What do Leonardo DiCaprio and the teams at RSA have in common? Aside from the obvious — good looks and long, distinguished careers – we share one other important characteristic: We both took home heralded industry awards this past week.

Leo’s Oscar might have generated a little more buzz. But, make no mistake, the two 2016 SC Magazine Excellence Awards that RSA received a few days after the Academy Awards represent a terrific accomplishment for all of us here. We couldn’t be more proud. To us, the announcements recognize RSA not only for the excellence of two of our product lines but also for sustained work over a long period of time.

The SC Magazine Awards honor RSA Archer Governance Risk and Compliance for having the Best Regulatory Compliance Solution and RSA’s Identity and Access Management Group for having the Best Multifactor Solution, RSA SecurID.

To beat out several well-established competitors, RSA had to demonstrate our capabilities in a number of areas.

RSA Archer had to show that its GRC solution helps organizations comply with specific regulatory requirements demanded of companies in the health care, retail, educational, financial services and government markets. We had to demonstrate that we help customers meet mandates noted in such legislation as HIPAA, SOX, GLBA or FISMA, or in guidelines noted by the likes of FFIEC or the PCI Standards Council. We had to produce references from customers who are engaged in, or have completed, real, full fledged deployments.

RSA’s SecurID multifactor identity solution had to prove its ability to provide enhanced security to end users or devices by offering credentials for access to an authenticator or authentication server. We competed against other software and hardware solutions that specialize in the biometric authentication of users through any one of a variety of methods: finger, thumb print, retinal scan, voice recognition, hand or palm geometry or facial recognition.

At the end of the day, awards are secondary to the positive feedback we get every day from customers that are able to meet compliance standards and offer secure access to vital resources with help from RSA solutions. But awards are also important. They recognize the good work we do every day and the high standards we are dedicated to achieving.

We promise: We won’t run the program long with a stack of thank you’s to our agents and our high school teachers. But we would like to take this opportunity to thank RSA customers for their belief in our technology, and to SC magazine for these great honors.

The SC Awards are recognized throughout the IT security industry. Each year, hundreds of applications are reviewed and narrowed down to a select group of finalists.
