Interested in the Flash market transition? Want to have fun and have an impact? Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!

The whole infrastructure market is in huge transition, with what would have been small ebbs and flows in the past are turning into titanic flash floods and droughts/wildfires today.

In these times – its important to be fearless, to change, and to adapt.

In the world of infrastructure, the way I see it, there are several “big things going on” in my world (tons going on in other domains too!):

  1. At the strategic level – the shift from “build” to “consume” – reflecting in platforms like converged/hyperconverged infrastructure as well as the continued acceleration of hybrid cloud hybrid IaaS, PaaS, and perhaps biggest impact and most “consume vs. build” – SaaS.
  2. Tons in security, networks, and more – but at the tactical level in the storage/persistence domain:
    • the super-fast transition of Flash enabling the all-flash datacenter for transactional workloads – aka the “AFA wars”.   We’re doing quite well here with XtremIO, the new VMAX All Flash  450F/FX and 850 F/FX platforms, and have exciting stuff coming for EMC World.
      • BTW, note to self, even when fighting furiously in a contested space like the battle for the AFA market – “never go negative” remains my mantra and goal, and sometimes when I fail to hold that standard (like internal emails), I tend to regret it :-)   Even when said emails are leaked selectively (supporting one world-view – hmm wonder where they might have come from) and with no context (which change the meaning completely)…. Ommm – maintain zen state….
  • the transition into “mainstream” of distributed software stacks with industry standard servers (again, with all-flash designs increasingly winning transactional workloads) – aka the “SDS/Hyperconverged wars” (which also will overwhelmingly start to favor software stacks that optimize for all-flash)

… It goes without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) that the other thing going on is a massive acceleration of Open Source Cloud Native app and data fabrics (new apps have less and less dependency on traditional ACID RDBMS models) – and this is also reshaping the world of infrastructure for these new applications (very different)  – and tons going on there too – happening in parallel to the above.   Read here, here, and here to catch up on what we’re doing there, and expect much, much more on that in the future.

While at EMC will always adapt our business to shrinking/expanding parts of the business – there are always openings, always places, always opportunity for technologists with strong passion, strong chops!

  • For #1 (consume vs. build ~ Converged/Hyperconverged) I did a “jobs, jobs, jobs!” post here (some openings still there – APPLY!).
  • For #2 (Flash) this is the same call to arms for people who want to be part of something fun!

2015 was another record setting year for XtremIO’s growth in the All Flash Array market.  While a lot of ink gets spent on battles in the marketplace (and unfortunately sometimes in the courtroom), if you zoom out the market speaks: EMC is #1 in the all-flash market – and we are growing that gap.   Regardless of marketing, positioning, posturing, the market speaks.

But – we’re not resting on our laurels (and we can always improve).

As I have mentioned previously, we believe that 2016 will be a monumental year with customers moving towards all flash data-centers. As a result, EMC is making a quantum leap to the modern data center with our VMAX All Flash, XtremIO and DSSD platforms – which are all GA.  For those of you who missed the recent launch of VMAX All Flash and DSSD, you can watch the keynotes here: VMAX ALL FLASH and DSSD.

With tremendous growth and investment in our All Flash Products, comes a ton of opportunity!

We are looking for awesome people to join the Flash SE ranks and lead the charge. Below is a list of All Flash SE openings that are broken down based on each theatre; Americas, EMEA and APJ.  Visit the EMC Jobs site for more info and descriptions for each job title.

While I’m sure they will never recover from the inbound spam they will start to get, I know that these people prioritize expanding their great teams over needing to strengthen spam filters so if you can’t navigate via the EMC Jobs site, you can also reach out to the hiring managers directly if you’re interested in applying!

We will be opening up more positions in EMEA and APJ soon, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to the managers in those areas for more info.
