Topic: Data Governance in a Big Data World Conventional data governance focuses on controlling risk, maintaining data quality, and driving consensus on data. The result — long waits for business analysts and data scientists who need fast access to data that did not know they wanted only a few moments before. Join on June 16th to hear me discuss how to make data governance work in the world of Big Data. The solution to this conflict requires viewing data governance functions less like a command and control center, and more like a library, identifying what data is available and appropriate for those requesting it. This session will explore this shift as well as the necessary technology and process implications of truly driving data-as-a-service. I have helped dozens of companies align data needs to IT goals and create effective data governance policies and organizational structures. I speak regularly at conferences on the next generation of Big Data technologies as well as practical ways to approach master data management and data governance.
